Conduct Knockout Broadcast Interviews

  In this talk Warren Etheredge makes the point that interviews go much better if you go in without a predetermined format for the interview to follow so you don’t have to force the answers into your sturcture.

We keep stressing that  you need to get your facts straight when doing an interview, and here we have a case of  MSNBC anchor Contessa Brewer mistaking Jesse Jackson for Al Sharpton on air.   Talk about embarrassing.

I personally hate it when interviewers exploit someone’s grief in the hope of making a good show for their viewers.  Here is some more reasons for not doing it as outlined in this article from the Irish Times.

As hard as it is to believe there are actually people that support politicians being vague in their answers to interview questions.  Although I totally disagree, here is an article from the BBC that supports politicians dodging questions in interviews.  Don’t blame me, I am just trying to be fair and present all views here.

While I usually think interviews with politicians are some of the most boring material to be found in broadcast media because the host rarely presses the guest for specifics, here is an interview that made wonderful TV.  The interviewer takes the guest to task over evading the questions and it turns into a great event.
